Why Teachers in Indonesia Choose Online Training
Early reading in Indonesia is taught in national, nasional plus and international (Cambridge or IB) schools, and teachers meet children with very different levels of English. Children in national schools often meet far less English than those in international schools, so a teacher needs a method that does not assume vocabulary. Can I do Jolly Phonics teacher training online from Indonesia? +
Yes. Training is live online, so you can join from anywhere in Indonesia, including Jakarta, Surabaya, Bandung, Bali. All you need is a stable internet connection and a quiet space.
Which level should I start with? +
Start with Level 1 if you are new to phonics or teach children aged about 4 to 6. Choose Level 2 if you already teach phonics or have completed Level 1 and want to support children aged about 7 to 12. If you are unsure, tell us what you teach and we will suggest one.
What time are sessions in Indonesia? +
Jakarta, Bandung and Surabaya (WIB, UTC+7) are 1 hour 30 minutes ahead of India. A 5:00pm IST session is 6:30pm in Jakarta. Bali and Makassar (WITA, UTC+8) are 2 hours 30 minutes ahead, and Papua and Ambon (WIT, UTC+9) are 3 hours 30 minutes ahead. Different time slots are available; tell us your preferred time.
Can I take both levels? +
Yes. Level 1 is about 10 hours and Level 2 about 6 hours, around 16 hours combined. Many teachers do Level 1 first and Level 2 afterwards, and you can book them as separate batches.
Will I get a certificate? +
Yes, a Certificate of Participation on completion. It is Jolly Reading's own certificate. It is not issued by Jolly Learning Ltd, and it is not an accreditation or a government qualification.
Do I need teaching experience? +
No. Level 1 is designed for beginners, parents and aspiring teachers. Level 2 is better with some phonics teaching experience, or after Level 1.
Indonesia has three time zones. Which one will my session use? +
We arrange the batch time for your zone. Jakarta, Bandung and Surabaya use WIB (UTC+7), 1 hour 30 minutes ahead of India. Bali and Makassar use WITA (UTC+8), 2 hours 30 minutes ahead. Papua and Ambon use WIT (UTC+9), 3 hours 30 minutes ahead. Tell us where you are when you enquire.
